Budapest Beer Bike – The Rules Have Changed

The Budapest Beer Bike has always been one of our most popular activities. However, in the past few years we’ve had to face some changes that effected this experience. Would you like to know how the Budapest Beer Bike looked like earlier, how it is today and what made us react so fast to these changes? Read these few lines and you’ll understand why we had to make certain changes…

Budapest Beer Bike in the early days

Your guide picked you up at your accommodation and organised transfers to the venue (called a taxi or organised a private minibus transfer). Upon arriving to the venue, the group popped onto the beer bike and started pedalling while one of our local guides poured draft beers. The group cycled to Heroes’ Square, took some photos, and headed down Andrássy street (World Heritage Site). They could stop for some food almost anytime as they were in the city centre. But of course, seeing drunk people on the street getting on and off a beer bike is not that fun for locals. Not to mention, those traffic jams being formed on the busiest streets…

Budapest beer Bike later on

What was the result of locals being unsatisfied with the beer bikes in the city centre? The venue of the activity had to be the City Park where pedalling groups don’t disturb cars. This was fine for some months, but then local families didn’t feel safe with a lot of people drinking and singing (and with that being quite loud…). What was the local government’s response to this? No beer bike in the City Park either…

Budapest Beer Bike today

We’re very thankful to our beer bike suppliers for finding a (hopefully) lasting solution for these problems regarding the Budapest Beer Bike. This is how the activity looks like today: Your group will be able to enjoy your beer, music and banter on a route that goes along the shores of a leafy part of the Danube River just south of the downtown. What does this actually mean? The venue is not in the city centre, but somewhere “beer bikers” don’t disturb locals. This means less sightseeing of course, but come on, guys: you can do that anytime while on your Budapest Bachelor Weekend.
