Interview with your local Budapest guide, Sophia

We interviewed one of our sweetest guides from Budapest, Sophia, who told us details and secrets of her experiences as an activity guide.

How long have you been a guide?

I joined the company one and a half years ago.

What have you learned from this job?

My English knowledge has gotten better thankfully because of this job. I’ve also learned how to treat people and how to handle complicated situations. I believe this is a really complex job that requires a lot of skills.

What do you like about this job?

I really like meeting new people, getting to know their ways of life. This is why it’s a really great experience for me. This is also where I found myself. I realised that in this way I can provide ’adventures’ and memories to people, which is much more than just a material thing.

Can you share your favourite story with us about guiding in Budapest?

Once I had this very nice group where the organiser started to share his problems with me after a few drinks. We got into this very deep conversation and I gave him some advice. I told him not to be scared of sharing his problems with others. It’s always hard when you’re alone and you feel like you can’t tell anyone when you’re feeling bad about something. A few weeks later he got in touch with me again and told me that I was right. I think this is another reason why I love this job. I really like helping others.
